Harrison School for the Arts provides an opportunity for talented students to develop their artistic and academic abilities to the fullest extent, instilling in each student self-discipline, self-esteem, and a working knowledge of and greater appreciation for the arts.
Harrison School for the Arts fosters creativity for a lifetime. Our graduates are prepared to enter college programs in the arts. Many Harrison alumni successfully undertake an academic field of study at the college or university level. A few are privileged to embark on professional careers in the performing or visual arts. As our students pursue their various life goals, the strong arts foundation provided at Harrison enables them to utilize a wide range of skills and techniques, including time management, goal setting, self-discipline, and, of course, creativity. |

The Oakland Nature Preserve
The mission of the Oakland Nature Preserve is to promote understanding of the fragile balances among land, water, mankind and the environment by educating present and future generations about the natural ecosystems of the Lake Apopka Basin and by restoring and conserving the lands within the Preserve.
Their efforts Inspire children and adults to become stewards of their natural environment using our classroom and outdoor facilities to explore and understand the history and ecology of Central Florida. |

The Santa Barbara News-Press praised his playing for its “considerable sensitivity and bravura.” His programs offer a fascinating mix of the old, the new, the traditional, and the off-the-beaten-path.
Douglas Rubio is a graduate of the University of California at Irvine, and holds both a Master of Music degree and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in classical guitar performance from the University of Southern California (USC). His private teachers include James F. Smith, Pepe Romero, and Frederick Noad, and he has performed in a large number of master classes. This impressive list includes Manuel Barrueco, David Russell, Christopher Parkening, Oscar Ghiglia, José Tomas, Michael Lorimer, David Leisner, and composer Joaquín Rodrigo. |

Nicole Omat, Professional Music Lessons
Nicole Omat is a 2009 summa cum laude graduate from Rollins College with Honors Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music and Anthropology. While there she studied violin with Joni Roos and Alvaro Gomez, protégé of David Oistrakh. A recipient of the four-year, full, academic Cornell scholarship, Ms. Omat served as Co-concertmaster of the Rollins College Orchestra and String Ensemble for three, consecutive years. Nicole has performed with Florida’s Space Coast Orchestra and the Rollins College Bach Festival Society Orchestra. She has performed as a solo vocalist at the White House, Bob Carr Performing Arts Center, Amway Arena, and Hard Rock Live. In addition to this experience, Nicole has studied Piano and Guitar for 10 and 7 years, respectively. Ms. Omat currently teaches private music lessons in Violin, Voice, Piano and Guitar at local music schools, including Music Shack and Progressive Music Orlando, where she works with students of all ages. She also has experience teaching group music classes, as the Music Instructor for the Rollins College Summer Day Camp. Nicole offers bilingual music education in English and Spanish.
